Hiroshima & Miyajima Private Bus Day Trip Guide

A Private Bus Route Around Hiroshima and Miyajima

A private coach pulls up near Hiroshima Station in the early morning light, and within a few minutes the group is settled in for a full day of sightseeing without a single transfer or train schedule to chase. One vehicle carries everyone from the first stop to the last, moving at the group's own pace rather than a fixed tour timetable.

Suggested One-Day Itinerary

The day typically opens at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, home to the Atomic Bomb Dome, with free time to walk the riverside grounds before the group moves on. Route 2 through central Hiroshima tends to be congested during the day, so it's worth building in some slack on the drive toward Miyajimaguchi rather than cutting the ferry connection close.

The coach parks in the bus area next to the Miyajimaguchi passenger terminal, which stays open from around 7:30 to 18:30, so the vehicle can wait close by while the group crosses by ferry to the island. The Itsukushima Shrine's floating torii gate looks different depending on the tide: at high tide it appears to rise straight out of the water, while at low tide visitors can walk out across the sand to stand at its base. A small visit tax of about ¥100 is collected as part of the ferry fare. Grilled oysters and momiji manju are easy to find along the shrine approach before the return crossing.

A Comfortable Ride for the Whole Group

Aogaki Kanko Bus has operated chartered and scheduled bus services since our founding, and we arrange pickup at whatever spot works best for the group — a hotel, a station, or another meeting point around Hiroshima. We match the vehicle to your group size: large coaches seat up to 53 or 60 passengers, medium coaches up to 28, and microbuses up to 23 or 28.

Booking and Pricing

Because the itinerary and group size affect the total distance and time on the road, we quote every Hiroshima–Miyajima day trip individually based on your headcount and planned stops rather than a fixed rate. Once your route is booked, the plan is fixed for the day — itinerary changes cannot be made after departure. Cancellation fees follow a simple schedule: free up to 21 days before departure, 20% from 20–8 days before, 30% from 7–2 days before, 40% the day before, and 100% on the day of travel.

Back Across the Inland Sea

On a route like this, the afternoon ferry back tends to catch the last light over the torii gate before docking again at Miyajimaguchi, where the same coach waits for the short ride into central Hiroshima. By then the tide has crept back in around the shrine's stilts, and the Peace Memorial Park grounds sit quiet in the evening light on the other side of the city.
